Description
An adventure story and ‘railroad novel’ set in the Old West. The story was adapted for film in 1915, again in 1926, and yet again in 1948 when it became Alan Ladd’s first color western. A television show based on the character, Whispering Smith, and starring Audie Murphy premiered in 1961 but was cancelled after only one episode due to allegations filed by the Senate Juvenile Delinquency Committee that it was too violent.
